KETASCO ALUMNI (North America) DONATES TO JUSTINE DAGADU

KETASCO Alumni of North America presented financial assistance in the sum of US$1,600 to Justine Dagadu to cover travel expenses following her admission to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to pursue undergraduate studies starting in August 2022.

The amount was raised through voluntary contributions from KETASCO Alumni resident in North America to supplement Justin Dagadu’s scholarship support from MIT.

Justine completed her high school education at the Keta Senior High Secondary-Technical School (KETASCO) in 2019. She was a member of the 2019 KETASCO NSMQ (National Science and Maths Quiz) team.

She has since been engaged in entrepreneurial initiatives to address environmental challenges including plastic waste recycling in communities like Agbogbloshie (where she currently resides with her parents) using innovative approaches of the digital economy. Justin hopes to major in Bioengineering at MIT.

KETASCO Alumni of North America in the Greater Boston metropolitan area will help provide hospitality support for Justin when she arrived in Boston to enable her adjust to her new environment in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Furthermore, KETASCO Alumni in North America will also help to provide mentorship and career guidance to Justine as needed to achieve her dreams.

This forms part of ongoing efforts by KETASCO Alumni in North America to “give back” to support their alma mater to enable the school to fulfil its role in providing quality and affordable education to students within the surrounding resource-poor communities.

The donation was presented by Dzn Dr Kodzo Gbewonyo (KETASCO ’68, MIT ‘81) on behalf of the KETASCO Alumni of North America and witnessed by Dzn Kojo Mattah, President of the National KETASCO Past Students Association and Mr Mawuli Tse, another alumnus of MIT.

Justin and her parents thanked the KETASCO Alumni in North America and promised to be a shining example to lift high the name of KETASCO.

The entire past students association of KETASCO wish Justine Dagadu safe trip and best wishes as she embarks on this journey to meet exciting challenges and opportunities that MIT education will offer her.
