Breaking News: Christian Atsu confirmed Dead

Former Ghanaian football player and Ghanaian winger has been confirmed dead.

About 12 day now, the Former popular Chelsea and Premier league player has been said to have been buried under a rubble following the earthquake that hit Turkey.

The earthquake was reported to affect over 20,000 people with over 10, 00 persons confirmed dead.

Christian Atsu’s sudden and unfortunate demise has been confirmed by his Turkish agent Uzun Mehmet and a known Turkish football correspondent Ekrem Konur.

Ghanaians and all fans are saddened by this terrible news of the 31-year old Ghanaian footballer.

This sad news of his unfortunate demise surfaced as a backdrop of assumed reports which indicated that Christian Atsu was found alive and sent to the hospital with an injury to his foot.

Christian Atsu, the Fmr. Chelsea loanee to Newcastle United was among many victims of the massive Turkish earthquake that occurred through Southeastern Turkey and some parts of Syria, annihilating a portion of these countries.

On the 5th of February, 2023, the world was in a limbo as news of 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Turkey and Syria.

There were rampant footages of gigantic skyscrapers collapsing under the influence of the earthquake.

News that came in saw infrastructure depleting and lives of casualties reducing to nothing.

Following the incident, the Turkish Emergency Response Team immediately took to action, undertaking rescue missions to save the lives of victims trapped in the rubble.

As the team was on a mission of teaching lives, another earthquake of a higher magnitude took place and the casualties increased so the team intensified their operation.

Ghanaian footballer, Christian Atsu who moved to Turkey Hatayspor this season and scoredd his maiden goal in a 1-0 against Kasimpasa, was among victims that were buried under the rubble of the earthquake that hit Turkey with some of his teammates and staffs inclusive.

According to reports, during the search and rescue operations, three of his teammates and a staff have been found and rescued.

However, Christian was still reported missing. After days of searching his whereabouts and rescue operations, he was reported to be found alive.

This was later refuted by Atsu’s Turkish agent who confirmed that his client was yet to be found.

Reports have it that Christian Atsu was on the 9th floor of the gigantic building of the Renaissance Residence in Hatay which was reduced into fragments by the earthquake that hit Turkey. Some football stars in Turkey were also confirmed to buried under the rubble and some were confirmed dead.

A popular goalkeeper in Turkey was confirmed dead after the earthquake. Marassapor players happening to be in buildings depleted by the earthquake were also confirmed to be in the rubble.

Christian Atsu was confirmed to be under the rubble but nowhere to be found and news couldn’t confirm his death following the purported and contradictory reports that emerged earlier.

Reports had it that he was found alive but this was later refuted by his Turkish agent Uzun Mehmet, his closest staff.

Its been 12 days since the earthquake occurred and now, his Turkish agent Uzun Mehmet and a popular Turkish football correspondent have confirmed the death of Christian Atsu.

The popular Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu did at the age of 31. He became a member of the Premier League (Chelsea) in 2013 but did not appear for club.

The Chelsea club sent the Ghana International as a loanee to Vitesse, Bournemouth, as well as Newcastle, where later the loan became permanent.

Before joining AI-Raed in 2021, Christian Atsu made 75 appearances at Magpies. In 2022, he joined Hatayspor in Turkey and scored his debut goal for the club hours before the occurrence of the earthquake.

Christian Atsu won 65 cups with the Ghana National Team before the call time on his International career in 2019.
