TUTAG – Tamale Technical University Chapter withdraw services

Members of the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) chapter at Tamale Technical University have withdrawn all services as of Wednesday, May 10 as a result of unpaid allowances and the implementation of an unapproved formula to pay members end-of-service benefits.

End of semester exams, script marking, and other academic tasks are among the services that are impacted.

TUTAG members claim that the university’s administration has not used the formula established by the university’s council to pay end-of-service benefits as specified in their condition of service, which was approved by the university council.

The TUTAG leadership revealed during a press conference on Wednesday in Tamale that the old formula had been used to issue cheques for the payment of recently retired staff.

Additionally, they mentioned that almost all of the Internally Generated Fund-related allowances were unpaid.

The end-of-semester exam, which was scheduled to complete on May 10th, has been delayed as a result of the withdrawal on Wednesday.

They won’t resume their services until their unpaid allowances are paid, according to Dr. Abdul Malik Bawah, the local vice chairman of the TUTAG.

Students from the University gathered in front of the administration after the TUTAG members’ action, seeking answers from management as to why their examinations had been postponed.

Osman Mubarik Abu, the director of public affairs at the institution, gave the students the reassurance that TUTAG and administration are collaborating to address their problems.
