Is failure the worst thing that ever happen to you? Most often, people react to success positively but do the vice versa to failure. Some people perceive failure to be a bad thing and success on the other hand as a fortune. Some contributing factors to the reaction of both aspects is the perception of society and tradition. Some individuals find themselves in a society where their tradition condemns failure and even tag it as a bad omen
However, for failure to be seen as good or bad, depends on an individual’s reaction towards it. Failure might hurt, people might talk, society might condemn it, making us feel like specks of dust but the truth is, it is an inherent part of life of any successful person. There can be success only through failure because it a platform for growth. Therefore, failure must not be conceived negatively. It is okay to fail but what is not okay to do is when you perceive your failure as the end to it all, the end to trying things anew, a halt to pursuing your dreams or taking it as a signal of no hope for a successful future.
We’ve had many great men and entrepreneurs, the likes of Despite, Bill Gate, Obama, etc. share their success stories as a result of the many failures and setbacks they had encountered. Those stories are just to enlighten us that failure is a building block and a foundation for our success stories. Let’s refer to the nostalgia in part one of our article too. We often times look at the success stories without considering their failures. It’s just like admiring the beauty of a building without considering the money, the energy, the labour force, etc that ensured the completeness of such building.
Failure is not a bad thing neither should it be considered a bad omen. It is an opportunity for reevaluation. An avenue to identify your flaws and identify new strategies to achieving your set targets. It provides a room for good reasoning.
Failure can be viewed as a repeated process of improvement that constitutes the road to success. Let take Thomas Edison for instance. The man in mention, tried making a light bulb with so much energy and in so many hours but each time, the bulb fails. He says, each time, the bulb is not working, he pressed closer to success as the failures taught him what wasn’t right. Imagine Thomas had given up on one or three failed attempts, will his creativity and initiative have come to light today?
- To conclude with this part, failure being good or bad depends on how you perceive and reacts towards it. It will be bad for you if you are not resolute and courageous. It will make you frustrated and you will give up on trying the second time but on the contrary, if you are resolute and courageous and determined to attain your set goals at all costs, failure will just be like a stepping stone to reaching success.
