LEGACIES OF AGES

Many centuries ago
Battles were fought and won
Many bloods were shed by the gun
Many toiled and sweated
For our flags, old glories, justice
For us to gain self-government and liberty
And lift high our banner of the land

Remembering the past years
Of sacrifices, the golden heritage
Arises the essence to honour this day
The day our motherland received dew in the morning
Though a day is set aside
It’s a legacy to be lived everyday

The legacies bring a call
To maintain our world of freedom
Our world of rich culture
Our world of colourful assets
Our world where no injustice treads

Our world where truth is spoken
From the depth of plaintive hearts
Our world of genuine skin color
A world of no oppression and suppression
A world where we scratch each other’s back
A world where the mind is liberated
Heads held up high, equity, inclusivity
Ensured to the core, love we adore

The legacies left dawned on us to repair
Our world that has broken into fragments
Awake Oh the land of sages
And build on the legacies of ages
Our motherland needs liberation
She cries for rescue
Little children, the young and adults
The old and grizzled
Let us arise and live the legacies of ages
