ADACOE ENDS TTAG-EGA QUIZ COMPETITION MIDWAY OVER ALLEGED CHEATING

The Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana, Eastern and Greater Accra Sector organized it’s 11th Unicom Quiz and Debate on Yesterday, 6th September, 2022.

The event saw the attendance of 8 public colleges in the sector out of nine schools. The Presbyterian Women College of Education couldn’t make it to the said event.

The event started with the debate competition however, the competition was ended prematurely as aggrieved students of Ada College of Education protested against the outcome of the first phase or round.

The competition was organized at Accra College of Education but was terminated halfway. This incidence occured when the Ada College of Education, one the contesting schools present alleged on an issue of unfairness in the declaration of results for the first phase of the contest. The said school was evicted but however, they raised an argument that they were cheated and the results need to reviewed again.

The aforementioned college was the first school to contest against Kibi Presbyterian College of Education on the motion; “The Introduction of Entrance Exams in Colleges of Education; A Remedy to Improve the Quality of Teachers Produced”. ADACOE spoke against the motion while KPCE spoke for the motion.

However, ADACOE was dissatisfied with the scores given them by the judges of the contest. Per the scores, ADACOE was kicked out of the competition by their opponents (Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, KPCE).

According to the aggrieved School their performance was enough and obvious to have qualified them against their opponents.

This incidence resulted in a chaos and the EGA Sector Executives tried to bring peace for the program to hold but it was in vain.

After long period of deliberations over the matter, the Executives led by Owusu Prince Kwabena popularly known as OPK, decided to end the whole program.

While deliberations were ongoing for the resolutions on the matter, the organizers allowed the quiz competition to be held and it was held successfully with Kibi Presbyterian College of Education emerging as the winner.

Though the quiz progressed and ended in success, there were three schools that had a tie that is Mount Mary College of Education, Presbyterian College of Education and Ada College of Education. There was no questions to break the tie between these school for award presentations.

The chaos caused the calling off the whole program hence leading to no presentation of awards to those who partook in the quiz. However, the Sector president, OPK promised to give all contestants their certificate of participation.
