CoE: How to Calculate your Grade Point Average (GPA)

Collegians even after the best orientation given them before the official commencement of school activities sometimes forget the procedure involved in calculating GPA.
What does GPA stands for?
GPA is known as the Grade Point Average which is done to summarize the performance after a semester.
How to check GPA
To check GPA for the semester, one needs to know the range of scores and their apportioned credit and marks.
Check the grade, and credit in the image below
Now let’s check the GPA for the first semester in Level 100
The result below is the Level 100 result of Akpalu Emmanuel from St. Vincent College of Education.
Helping Emmanuel to calculate his GPA, we will multiple the Grade Point by the Credit Hours to Crosscheck.
Taking EBS 101 ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA, for example, the Grade is B+ which is equivalent to 3.5.
Let’s multiply the 3.5 by the credit hour of course that’s 3 = 10.5
Do the same for the courses taken throughout the semester accordingly.
From the picture above GP = 74.5
Total Credit Hours = 23
We then divide the total Grade Point by the total credit hours to get your GRADE POINT AVERAGE.
74.5 ÷ 23 = 3.2391
In all GPA is calculated in the form of TOTAL GRADE POINT ÷ TOTAL CREDIT HOURS
