IN MY OWN WORLD

I desire to part with the world
Of dark trees and dark shades
Where no transparency lies
And comfort wide afar as it fades

I crave not a link with the world
Where the old too wise enough to bland
They that rule affairs of state
Holding a breeze from gracing the land
‘Cause they’re espoused with doom
And brazenly watch the land in gloom

I wish to escape the world
Where tender buds are shaken off by rough winds
Blossoms get rotten stems and wither of
A world like the desert I think not thereof
No beautiful flower grows there

I will flee the world
Where lofty trees take flimsy glories
Advantages, bows, recommendations, seats
Reservations at the expense of the stunted trees
Craving for a morsel of food and growth
Too callous, not lending them a shade
To sustain their water to the roots
And skip too much sunshine in their boots

I detest the world
Where nature is distorted
Precious minerals, Great Assets, Diamonds
White pearls, Emeralds, Sweet Laurels
Handcrafts, Arts, Beauties, are exported
They are not tapped by our own hands
We receive the deceptive ones imported
People wail, yell,cry, shout
In the state of high demands, little survival

I want to live in my own world
Where the moon and sun is one
Complimenting each other in whichever way
My own world
With a loamy soil to give lovely flowers life
The birds will sing in freedom
Many freed from whoredom
As there’s much to do for livelihood

In my own world
I wish to watch the sun set
And faces smile in style
As if distress were never met
We shall explore and tap our own
And build enormous chance for survival
It may seem a fantasy
But my world does exist, not a fallacy

ANALYSIS OF THE POEM

Stanza 1: Compares people to dark trees having no transparency and being around such people brings no comfort so the persona does not want to live world.

Stanza 2: Points out old people in government who form associations, who think their too wise, ceasing lives and making people uncomfortable. They are full of doom and they watch the people despondent.

Stanza 3: The persona wishes to flee a world of violence. He compares the youth to tender buds that are either killed or derailed by rough living conditions in the country. He also compares same youth to blossoms( a tree ready for fruiting) who end up getting corrupt(rotten stem) and their essence is lost ( wither off). The poet compares the country to a desert where no beautiful flower grows, nothing good comes out of it. You know the desert is too hot for some plants to stay.

Stanza 4: The poet compares the Rich in the society to lofty trees. They always have advantages over the Poor (Stunted trees). The poor crave for a morsel and growth but the rich will not extend some of the resources to help (Too callous, not lending them a shade)for the poor to also survive.

Stanza 5: The poet explains she hates a country where nature is destroyed. Example: deforestation, destruction of the ozone layer, land degradation, pollution, etc. Again, the poet does not like a country who imports fake materials (We receive deceptive ones imported), we do not tap our own resources instead we export them in exchange of deceptive ones. The last two lines expresses how people are suffering by using (wail, cry, shout, yell), because of high demands in living with a little chance of survival.

Stanza 6 &7: Explains the kind of world the persona desires. The poet expects unity between people who will support each other though they are different (sun and moon). The poet compares her desired world to a loamy soil where flowers(people) can grow. People will be in freedom even birds. According to the poet, in her new world, there will be no whoredom (Prostitution). Note: Whoredom here is a synecdoche. It represents all other social vices like robbery, cyber fraud, etc. None of those vices will exist because there will be enough good works for people to do for livelihood. The stanza 7 further explains the persona’s world of positivity full of smiles. He stated that, they shall explore and tap their own resources and create more opportunities for livelihood. The last two lines concludes that the persona’s world might seem like a fantasy to others but she believes it exists and not just a fallacy (false).
