Saturday, 16th July marked the second day of the SRC WEEK CELEBRATION of Mount Mary College of Education. Three different activities were held on this particular day thus a Kalyppo Jogging, Women Empowerment and Old school Night.
The first activity held on this day was the Kalyppo Jogging. As early as 5am, students were set for Dawn trotting. The side attraction of this event was the sharing of Kalyppo to all who partook in it. Students jogged from campus with morale or jama to town, specifically Akutunya Station in the Somanya town and returned back to campus. This activity saw a success because Students got involved and were active all throughout.
In the afternoon of the same day, there was Women Empowerment Program. This program was organized solely for the women under the auspices of the Women Commission. The program began at exactly 1pm and the attire was the Women Empowerment T-shirt on black jeans. There was an Opening Prayer from Miss Yaganeh Clara.
There was performance by the MOMACOE DRAMA TROUPE and the BLACK TRIBE DANCED GROUP.
The theme for the program was “Combating Gender Stereotype and Sexism” and the SRC Vice President; Miss Abigail Akugri gave a brief talk on the theme. The Women’s Commissioner; Miss Helina Audio gave the opening speech and purpose of gathering. She thanked the ladies for accepting the invitation and making time to grace the occasion with their presence. She stated that as ladies, it is necessary to learn other handiworks to ensure multiple streams of income aside the salaries to be earned from the teaching profession hence the need for the program.
The occasion again, was graced by the presence of the Assistant Dean of Students’ Affairs in the person of Madam Beauty Addo.
Three different skills were taught. These were Fabric Softener (aka After wash), Fascinators and Make-up. The After Wash was taught by Mr. Rodolpho and all students were involved. For the other two skills, students were made to choose one and go for Breakout Room that is students who preferred Make-up went to observe and learn it likewise those preferred the making of Fascinators.
The facilitator for the making of Make-up was Miss Zaliya Ibrahim and the facilitator for the making of Fascinators was Miss Gabianu Jennifer.
There was snack that were shared. The program ended at around 5:20 pm with the Women’s Commissioner giving the closing Remarks.
Mr. Emmanuel, CEO of Manuel Shots also used the forum to encourage the ladies present to be determined and put what they have been taught into work. He gave an account of his personal experiences and how he strived to become a photographer. He admonished the ladies to do away with spending precious times on tiktok and Facebook but instead, he asked them to patronize Instagram and YouTube to connect with mentors and download educational videos that can help them learn more skills. He emphasized that he wasn’t taught by someone in person on how to become a photographer but with the help of YouTube videos, he is who he is today.

Meanwhile, while the Women Empowerment Program was going on, the Men also decided to keep themselves engaged. In this wise, there was the organization of FIFA game competition for the level 100s and PES game Competition for the level 400s. Suede in the Datig Hall was crowned the Best FIFA Gamer. However, the PES Game Competition was rescheduled since playing it will interfere in the time set aside for the OLD SCHOOL NIGHT. The competition is between Fynn Peter and Baah Emmanuel thus Staebell vs Elsbernd.
The program women Empowerment Program ended with a vote of thanks from Princess Enam Agbenyega; A level 300 aspirant of the Financial Secretary position for the 2022/2023 Academic Year Elections. The Female Student Chaplain; Eyram Sappah Ruby closed the program with a prayer.

Finally, the day was climaxed with an OLD SCHOOL NIGHT. This program as part of the SRC WEEK CELEBRATION was organized to remember how our parents and elders dressed back in the 80s and 90s. This program saw students dressing like their parents and grandparents in the olden days. It was astonishing and Students’participation was massive.
The program saw in attendance the SRC President in the person of Mr. Agbessi Kokou Loumon, the Women’s Commissioner; Miss Helina Aidoo, The Dept. SRC Organizer and other SRC Executives. The program was held in the night from 7pm to around 10pm.
The day was tedious but all activities organized was massively participated in and successful.
