Level 400s in CoE Might Complete Next Year, Check Details Here.
Level 400s in the various colleges of education are in limbo now as they might face yet another strike since they started their four years B.Ed program.
In a statement released by Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG), the leadership wishes to express their disappointment and displeasure at to how the Government feels reluctant to handling their welfare matters across the 46 Colleges of Education.
Their release was captioned “CETAG DEMANDS FULL CONDITIONS OF SERVICE AND COMPENSATIONS FOR ALL YEAR ROUND ACADEMIC WORK NOW!”
In the release, it was stated that “The Association has observed with uneasiness Government’s relaxed attitude in ensuring that tutors in the Colleges of Education are given full and better conditions of service to encourage them to give off their best in the training of pre-tertiary teachers who in turn, train the future leaders of the country.”
“We, therefore, wish to use this press statement to draw the attention of the public to the following:
i. Undue delay of the Government in giving CETAG members full conditions of service in spite of engaging the leadership of the Association in negotiations since August 2021. This attitude of the Government also contravenes article 24 clause 1 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana which category states: Every person has the right to work under satisfactory, safe and healthy conditions, and shall receive equal pay for equal work without distinction of any kind.

ii. Failure of the Government to act on CETAG’S demand for a compensatory package for academic staff in the colleges of education who have been compelled to work all year round without taking a compulsory vacation or off-season break contrary to provisions of the Harmonised Conditions of Service for the Colleges of Education, Section 10.1.6 page 74-75. This all-year-round academic work for tutors also sharply contravenes the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, article 24 clause 2 and the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651) section 10 which explicitly states: Every worker shall be assured of rest, leisure and reasonable limitation of working hours and periods of holidays with pay, as well as remuneration for public holidays.”
Concluding the release, CETAG used the opportunity to remind government of her obligation to the tutors of the CoE, draw public attention of the unfairness meted out to them, serve a notice that if by 31ST AUGUST, their needs are not met, ALL MEMBERS OF THE CETAG ACROSS THE 46 COLLEGES OF EDUCATION SHALL ADVICE THEMSELVES.
