NABCO Will End in September 2022

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta disclosed that the Nation Builder`s Corps (NABCO) programme will officially end in September 2022.

According to the Minister of Finance, the programme since its introduction has engaged 100,000 young graduates and has provided most of the with the exquisite skills for world of work.

During his mid year budget on Monday, He said; “our iconic National Builder`s Corp (NABCO) programme, which was initially to run for three years and extended for an additional year, will be completed by 1st September, 2022. So far we have invested approximately GHc 2.2 billion.”

ABOUT THE NATION BUILDER`S CORPS(NABCO)

The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programme is a government initiative to address graduate unemployment to solve social problems. The focus of the initiative will be solving public service delivery in health, education, agriculture, technology, governance and drive revenue mobilization and collection.

The objectives of the programme are to:

  • • Provide temporary employment to unemployed graduates
  • • Improve skills and employability for transition from programme to permanent employment
  • • Improve public service delivery
  • • Improve on government revenue mobilization
  • • To provide needed infrastructure to improve access to basic public services

The sectors for employment under the NABCO programme is below

  1. Education
  2. Health
  3. Local government
  4. Agriculture
  5. Entrepreneurship
  6. Revenue
  7. Digitization

Even though, the implementation of the policy witnessed delay in payment of trainees allowance, the minister urged all trainees exiting the programme to make good use of the YOUSTART and other existing programmes.

he stated that ” The YouStart programme will be a fundamental intervention to advancing an entrepreneurial nation to create jobs. The government`s policy is to support dynamic young entrepreneurs access training and funds to build their businesses and v=become a significant pool of job providers for their fellow young people.”
