The Newly Posted Teacher in the Various Basic Schools in Ghana is gnashing their teeth as they still struggle to acquire their staff ID after barely five months at work under Ghana Education Service.

In a complaint sighted by our front desk, we realized the need posted teacher were served an appointment letter which was backdated to 21st January 2022 and we’re expected to report to their post of work by 1st February 2022 to commence task assigned them.

As of now, over 80% of the newly posted teachers are yet to receive their staff IDs which is impeding the payment of salaries come to talk of the biometric registration it will take them a month or two for the salaries to be paid.

In a post released by one of the newly posted teachers, he asked the following questions;

  1. DOES THE LEADERS OF THE TEACHER UNIONS CARE?
    Newly posted teachers when filling the “new entrant” form had to select one of these Teacher Unions because it is mandatory. This shows clearly that each person will automatically be a member of a union which is a fact. I don’t want to believe that it is because of the dues which will be deducted from the salaries of teachers that is why they are mandated to join a union but rather to get someone to seek for their welfare.

  3. HOW ARE THEY EXPECTED TO TEACH WITH TLRs?
    The new curriculum demands that adequate TLRs be provided for the teaching and learning process of which head teachers and SISOs are on the neck of teachers. How are these newly posted teachers expected to enrich their classrooms with TLRs not even to talk of purchasing textbooks for those in school where parents are not buying books for their wards.
  4. HOW ARE THEY EXPECTED TO CARE FOR THEIR BASIC NEEDS?
    How are these newly posted teachers expected to take care of their basic needs amid this economic hardship when day in day out prizes of items go up of which they don’t receive salaries not even allowance.
  5. IN OUR TIME IT WAS THE SAME.
    Sometimes, just sometimes I feel the pain when I hear teachers receiving salary passing comments like “it was the same during our time” when newly posted teachers complain of suffering. Always my question to them is, were you happy when it was done to you? Always the answer is NO. If so, why do you want your colleague to go through the same?

We plead with the leadership of various teacher unions to come to the aid of the newly trained teachers to help them overcome the stress of life.
