NO PAIN NO GAIN

No pain no gain
An anthem for the brave
Whose humble abode is the humble Circle
Where they struggle to make ends meet

Proud in the armor of tattered shirts
Running helter skelter
From market squares to stations
With the support of unclothed legs
Privileged under heavy sack loads
With tiny rivulets quenching their thirsts
Pickpocketing for bread of no butter
And receiving alms as their daily wage

Trembling under thunder strikes
Being exposed to the mercy of the weather
Being a sumptuous meal for the anopheles
Compelled to compromise on non desired needs
Constipation their daily cancer
Always at the service of rape
Becoming street walkers for a morsel to survive the rive
Being a tool for amassing wealth
Are the best their place of solace could afford

With nowhere to call home
Grateful for their place of solace
It is not entirely their doings but for the confrontations of the unbearable
They tell their stories in agony
With their eyes and hearts crying for pity and love
Hoping to be delivered from the trauma

We never chose to be where we are
We have reasons why we are stacked in the down truck of life
We have reasonable reasons
For befriending Circle for a home
We desired not be bereaved
We are never the cause of abandonment
We never dreamt to be begotten by bastards and public virgins
We never chose to come to the multitude family
With little or no wage – little or no surviving morsel
It’s not our fault to incur the wrath of hunger
For the fear of ulcer
we are our sole breadwinners
We can’t withstand the force of the lion and lioness in the house everyday

Little are we and never can we ever
Bridge the gap between torture and mercy
We are made to embrace fate for its course
Only the author of it can help us fight the cause
We wish a miracle will locate us one day
To pick us from the slum and slumber without delay
And we will be liberated from the muds of life
To let shine our light
