I Don’t Support The Strike – Governance Lecturer Dr. Benjamin Otchere Ankrah, a governance lecturer at Central University, has urged his striking coworkers to rethink their strike action. Dr Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah disagreed with the teachers’ habit of using strike activities to demand that the government address their complaints when he spoke on Peace FM’s morning program “Kokrokoo.” Read also: Teacher Unions call of strike Dr. Otchere-Ankrah urged the teachers to grant Dr. Eric Nkansah the opportunity to work and allow them to evaluate his performance while placing emphasis on the teachers’ demand that the new Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) be terminated and the reason for which they have started a strike. He questioned why, if they didn’t believe the GES Director-General to be competent, they would let the students suffer for no fault of their own. Teacher Unions call of strike The three teacher unions that had been on strike for the previous seven days in opposition to Dr. Eric Nkansah’s appointment as Director-General of the Ghana Education Service have ended their strike. This happens shortly after the National Labour Commission (NLC) successfully obtained a court order preventing the teacher unions from advancing with their strike. The National Association of Graduate Teachers’ President, Angel Kabonu, gave instructions to all teachers to return to the classroom starting on Monday, November 14, 2022, until further notice while speaking to the media on behalf of the unions.
