The issue of Adwoa Sarfo; the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection has been making waves on headlines all over the internet space for quite some months now.
It was all over the the news that the Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya hasn’t been to parliament for some time and her absence in parliament has been long overdue. This led to her being sacked by the President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo as demanded by the populace.
However, today, 2nd August, 2022, a communiqué has been released from the office of the Communication Directorate, Jubilee House, Accra on the appointment of MINISTER AND DEPUTY MINISTER NOMINEES for the MINISTRY OF GENDER, CHILDREN AND SOCIAL PROTECTION position.
From the release, it was realized that the President; His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo appointed Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu, the Member of Parliament for Walewale, as Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
Her appointment is however subjected to parliament’s approval and her appointment is in accordance with the article 78 of the Constitution.
Coupled with this, pursuant to article 79 of the Constitution, President Akuffo-Addo has again nominated Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah, Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, as the Deputy Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
Her appointment or nomination is also subject to the approval of Parliament.
Finally, for smooth and effective administration, the President is hoping that his nominees for this important Ministry will be accepted by parliament so they can effectively carry out their mandate for a successful second term in office.

ABOUT HON. LARIBA ZUWEIRA ABUDU
Hon. Lariba is a native of JANGA-FIO, born on Thursday, 12 May 1966 born to Mr Abudu an Educationist and a chief of Fio Traditional Area. She is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ghanaian politician and the deputy Chief Executive officer of the Northern Development Authority.
She was appointed to the Deputy Chief Executive Office of the Northern Development Authority in 2018 by President Akufo-Addo.
She became the member of parliament for Walewale constituency after she contested and won Walewale constituency seat in the 2020 Ghanaian General Elections.
ABOUT HONOURABLE FRANCISCA OTENG MENSAH
Francisca Oteng-Mensah is a member of parliament and a member of the New Patriotic Party for the Kwabre East Constituency and was known as the youngest parliamentarian of the fourth republic of Ghana at the time of her election in 2006.
Francisca was born at Aboaso Hospital at Mamponteng, Ashanti Region on 14 February 1993.
She is the daughter of Mrs. Joyce Oteng and Dr. Oteng Gyasi a doctor and a businessman who is the C.E.O of the Angel Group of Companies.
She attended the Mamponteng Roman Catholic School, then to Revival Preparatory School at Breman, and finally to Supreme Saviour International where she completed her Primary Six. She completed her Junior High education at Angel Educational Complex.
She then continued to St. Roses Senior High School to complete her Senior High Education. She also attended the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology KNUST where she read law. Francisca was a second-year Law student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology at the time she contested the elections in 2016.
Before her appointment as a member of parliament, she was employed as a Secretary at the Angel Group of Companies in Kumasi. In December 2017, she was appointed as the chairperson of the National Youth Authority. She won her parliamentary seat for the Kwabre East Constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, after the 2016 Ghanaian general elections.
She is currently the youngest person to be in parliament.
