Student Loan Release GH¢12M To Students, Click Here
The Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has released a whooping point of GH¢12 million as loan without guarantees to students in the various tertiary institutions in Ghana.
Since the launch of the “No Guarantor Loan Scheme”, a total of 10,000 students from 148 tertiary institutions have accessed the loan which is the first payment
Nana Kwaku Agyei- Yeboah, the CEO of SLTF disclosed to journalist that the payment covers only the first time applicants for the first semester of the year.
From the various tertiary institutions, first time applicants from the University of Education, Winneba recorded 1,523 which is the highest number of beneficiaries, followed by Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) which had 787, Jniversity of Ghana also record 511 students, Koforidua Technical University recorded 488 students and Takoradi Technical University 371 respectively.
He further stated that amounts received by the students varied from GH¢1,500 which us the lowest and GH¢3000 as the highest.
This amont was paid due to the need of the students after a means testing assessment by the SLTF before the disbursement to the students.
He also stated how the payment will go a long way to help lift burden If students as they continue their education on the various university campuses.
Issue on Continuing Students
The CEO explained that all continuing students who applied have been paid earlier in March this year
He also promised to work on the timely oahmrny of loans t help beneficiaries rip off challenges they have with funding.
He also appealed to the beneficiaries to make payment of loan back a voluntarily style so that government gets enough fund to run the scheme.
EXCEPTIONS
The CEO clarifies that, only people who had so far not been paid at those who applied but yet to complete the submission of required information to the scheme.
He urged them to expedite action on the completion of their documents and take the biometric so that they will be paid.
