Take the Study of Chinese Seriously- MoE Chief Director to Students
The Chief Director at the Ministry of Education(MoE), Mr. Divine Yao Ayidzoe, has urged students to become assiduous and studious towards the learning of Chinese.
He stated that with the study of Chinese, there are lot of opportunities available to students who offer French as part of their education.

This advice he gave when he was speaking at a public lecture organised by the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast on the topic: “The Impact of Globalization on Education and the Importance of Acquiring Chinese as a Second Language.”
According to the Chief Direction, he observed that for the learning of the Chinese language to be successful, then leadership is essential for this development.
In a flashback, the Minister recalled, “I am sorry to say this, we suggested to a minister that looking at things, Ghana is surrounded by French speaking countries, let’s make French compulsory from kindergarten to SHS. This was at management meeting.”

“The minister said Ghana is not surrounded by French speaking countries. However, Ghana is surrounded by Ewes in the East, Kusasis in the North and Akans in the West. He just killed my vision,” added Mr. Ayidzoe.
However, Mr Ayidzoe the Chief Director declined to mention the name of the said minister at the public lecture.
Mr. Ayidzoe urged all colleges in the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to link up with Dr. Michael Boakye-Yiadom, the Director-General of the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA), on educational programmes.
He said, “IEPA has a lot of influence on policy formulations at the Ministry of Education.”
He pointed out some of the educational reforms going on at the Ministry of Education. He reinstated that there’s the need for transformation in the current education system in order to help to country to meet and exceed standards with other countries in this evolving world.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the existence of these reforms would help build students and equip them with the requisite skills necessary for the job market.
More so, Prof. OU Yamei, the Chinese Director at the Confucius Institute at UCC, also joined his voice to urge students to embrace the study of Chinese and enhance their opportunities of gaining employment with the various Chinese companies that are situated in the country.
Prof. Ishmael Mensah, the Ghana Director of the Confucius Institute at UCC, also used the forum to entreat the students to take advantage of the study of the Chinese language to have a safe place in globalization.
