TTAG COMMENDS GOVERNMENT AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS; CHECK OUT DETAILS
For a very long time, trainees have been agitated about the payment of their allowance which has been long overdue. The government owes trainees 7 months arrears.
There have been enormous stakeholder engagements by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) and numerous media engagements by NEC and individual trainees to solicit for the payment of the allowance.
All efforts of NEC proved fruitful. A couple of days ago, Trainees were informed about the release of funds which catered for 2 months arrears.
Today, 2nd August, 2022, trainees across the 46 colleges of Education were filled with overwhelming ecstasy as they received 2 months arrears in their Ezwich accounts.
Though, it was not the full 7 months, trainees were however grateful as the little paid will help relieve them of some burdens such payment of fees, purchasing of handouts, partaking in research for projects, etc.
In light of the payment of the two months allowance, NEC also released a communiqué to express their recondite gratitude to the government and other stakeholders.
Through the release, they expressed their gratitude to the Government, Ministry of Education, and all other stakeholders through the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Students’ Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) for the payment of the allowance.
The NEC also stayed that since the restoration of the allowance policy in 2017, the scheme has flaws like delay in payment and other but they are grateful for always trying to meet students’ needs and they are hopeful that such flaws will be worked on to a smooth system.

More so, the NEC again extends their appreciation to the Management of the Students’ Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) for their swift response whenever the reach out to them.
The NEC ended by reinstating the relevance of the allowance to the ordinary trainee and appreciated the unflinching commitment of government to its payment. They however called on government to take steps to release funds for the remaining 5 months arrears.
“Undoubtedly, teacher trainees’allowances have been of enormous help to trainees in diverse ways and we greatly appreciate government’s unflinching commitment to its payment.
We however appeal that steps are expedited in the release of funds and subsequently the payment of the remaining 5 months of the arrears.”
Teacher Trainees across the 46 Colleges of Education expressed their thankfulness to the Dzunu-led Administration for always fighting in their interests.
