The executive of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana, in one of their ways to support better education in colleges of education has partnered with Student Loan Trust Fund to supply trainees with laptops on affordable price.

The leadership, recognizing the importance of IT in the modern life of teachers, have partnered SLTF to supply laptops to trainees interested. Interested students are to make the payment on installment basis.

  1. The policy should be named TTAG-STUDENT LOAN LAPTOP POLICY
  2. The student loan shall be responsible for all costs associated with the policy as well as provision of
    laptops.
  3. TTAG shall represent the voice of trainees in all 46 public Colleges of Education.
  4. An email should be created to receive applications from trainees.
  5. TTAG shall help in feeding student teachers with all relevant information concerning the policy.
  6. The policy be launched during the 26th Delegates’ Assembly at St. Francis College of Education, Hohoe.
  7. The cost of the laptops be maintained as proposed by SLTF, thus, two Thousand, Seven Hundred Ghana
    cedis (GH₵ 2700.00)
  8. The payment for the laptop shall be done from source, through the allowance of student teachers. The
    amount to be deducted per month, shall vary, depending on the levels of student teachers. For first years, there shall be a monthly deduction of GH₵ 84.375, for Second years, there shall be a monthly deduction of GH₵ 112.50. in the case of third years, there shall be a monthly deduction of GH₵168.75 and for final years, there shall be a monthly deduction of GH₵200.00
  9. Despite the provisions in clause 8 above, student teachers who wish to complete their payment early can provide such additional information in their application. For instance, if a first-year student wants to complete his or her payment on time, he or she can include the amount he or she wants to be deducted in the application letter.
  10. Also, final years who wish to benefit from the policy must make an initial deposit of GH₵ 1,100.00 to make up for the remaining amount after the eight-month deduction. Also, if they (Level 400s) still wish to receive their allowances at the end of every month, they should make a higher initial deposit into SLTF account.

11.As much as possible, both parties thus, TTAG and SLTF should ensure that all levels benefit from the policy.

  1. The Laptop shall be a brand new HP250 G7 Laptop with the following Specifications; Intel Core i3, 2.4 GHz, 8th Generation, 500GB HDD (Hard Disk), 4GB Memory, Genuine Microsoft Window 10 64-bit Professional edition pre-installed, Genuine Microsoft Office Standard License pre-installed, 15.6” carrying case.
  2. There shall be a twelve-month warranty to cover any defects in any part of the laptop under normal use during the warranty period. This warranty shall not include any form of damages caused by the user such as screen cracks, liquid spillage etc.
