Haaland sets a new record for most goals in a single EPL season

Erling Haaland of Norway has surpassed the previous record for goals scored in a single Premier League campaign.

The 22-year-old broke the previous record of 34 goals shared by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole on Wednesday by scoring his 35th league goal of the season in Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over West Ham.

Prior to this achievement, Haaland had already surpassed Mohamed Salah of Liverpool’s 32 goals during the 2017–18 season to set a new record for the most goals in a 38-game season.

Haaland has a chance to increase his remarkable tally with five more games remaining in the current season.

Notably, Shearer and Cole both achieved their records in seasons with 22 teams competing in the top division, giving them four more games to play.

Haaland, on the other hand, set his record in his first season of English football after just 31 appearances.

Manchester City’s success, as evidenced by their current position on top of the Premier League table, has been greatly influenced by Haaland’s outstanding season-long performance.
