Meet Appiah-Kubi Prince; The Winner of TWJ Writing Contest

As part of developmental initiatives to see to the progress of the Teacher Trainees of Ghana, the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) Weekly Journal (TWJ) has brought up a writing challenge to serve this purpose.

This initiative came into existence under the leadership of Miss Nathlaine Matilda Marfo, who was the then Chairperson for the Journal.

Through her vision, this reform is something carried on by her predecessor, Miss Joana Eghan.

The TTAG Weekly Journal Writing contest is a writing competition geared towards unearthing great potentials in writing in the Teacher Trainees Fraternity.

In the maiden edition of the contest in 2022, the contest saw Honu Aku Sandra emerging as the Winner ((from the Eastern-Greater Accra (EGA) Sector of TTAG (TTAG-EGA ), Ethel Adika as second (from the TTAG TTAG-EGA Sector) Jonathan Zangu (Attricons Sector)as their, Sarkodie Listowel (WEC Sector) and Precious Dedzo ( Volta Sector) emerging with notable mentions.

On 16th January, 2023, the TTAG Weekly Journal under the leadership of Miss Joana Eghan, launched the second edition of the contest. The public announcement was done in the journal and shared virally on all social media handles.

There were two topics given out of which, candidates were to choose just one (of their choice) and write on. The topics were;

  1. Ensuring Quality Teacher Education: Is downsizing the Intake of Students and Entrance Assessment, the Best Way to Go?
  2. Colleges of Education Should Wait on the Government to Solve Infrastructural Deficits or Leave them in the Hands of Private Entities.

The contest commenced on 16th January, 2023 and submissions were to end on 25th January, 2023 but was later extended.

In this year’s edition, the contest saw Mr. Prince Appiah-Kubi emerging as the ultimate winner (from the Eastern-Greater Accra (EGA) Sector of TTAG (TTAG-EGA ) out the many that contested.

Appiah-Kubi Prince is a level 300 student studying Mathematics and ICT(JHS EDUCATION ) at Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education. He has great interest in academics and he is currently serving as the interim president for the Readers, Writers and Debaters Club, the acting student librarian and the general secretary for ABETICOE-GHAMSU LOCAL.

He is also aspiring for SRC PRESIDENT. Prince strongly believes his gift and potentials are for the upliftment of others.
