Mount Mary College of Education – Inter halls debate and quiz winners
The much anticipated inter halls debate and quiz competition in Mount Mary College of Education came off on Friday night.
The competition was between the five halls: Adjikpo, Datig, Elsbernd, Noser, and Staebell.
Level 100 student teachers participated in the debate while level 200 student teachers participated in the quiz competition.

The motion for the night was, “THE USE OF THE CANE IN BASIC SCHOOLS WAS AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR ACADEMIC DISCIPLINE.”
Adjikpo debated against Staebell, Datig against Elsbernd, with Noser on standby who later debated against Datig.
Datig, however was declared by the judges as the winners of the competition and Staebell, Adjikpo, Elsbernd, and Noser declared the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively.
Padi Daniel from the Datig hall was crowned the best performing debater with Borkor Jude Tettey from the Staebell hall as the 2nd best performing debater of this year’s competition.
Furthermore, the quiz competition became very tough for both halls as the contestants displayed extraordinary intelligence.
There were three rounds in all – round one was Teaching Speaking and Listening, round two was Differentiated Planning, Learning and Multimedia Development and round three was current affairs.

Gideon Kunadu and Sarah Pokurah, who was later substituted for Osborn Adjei represented the Elsbernd hall with Ebenezer Savator and Bamfo Kwadwo representing the Noser hall, Obloni Hayford Nartey and David Anobila, who was replaced by Robert Nartey stood in for the Adjikpo hall, the Datig hall was also represented by Solomon Asare Larbie and Albert Adormson Okley, and Ceasar Ayer Teye, popularly known as Dr Ceasar and Stephen Abayah, later substituted for Kingsley Asuman, also went on the ticket of the Staebell hall.
The Staebell hall was crowned the winners of the quiz competition after an outstanding performance by their contestants with 69 points in total.
Datig, Noser, Adjikpo, and Elsbernd falling 2nd with 65 points, 3rd with 64 points, 4th with 60 points, and 5th with 57 points respectively.
