Three Students Of The Kwame Nkrumah Unuversity Of Science And Technology (Knust) Remanded Over Campus Rampage

The district court of Asokore Mampong has remanded three students of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) into police custody, yesterday, Friday, September 23.

The three, Emmanuel Appiah Amoah, Eugene Noamesi and Kwabena Kwarteng Amaniampong, are standing trial for involving themselves in the August 18 riot on campus.

They were arrested on bench warrant, followed by investigations into the riots, which led to the deliberate destruction of some properties which included cars.

Before their arrest, authorities had already dispensed some sanctions following recommendations by an investigative committee set up to look into the incident.

Celebrations such as the Hall week and SCR week at KNUST had been suspended indefinitely following the riot.
The three students are to reappear in court on Monday, October 10.

“We would like to assure the public that all the perpetrators in the disturbances will be brought to justice,” the police made it known in a statement yesterday.
