WHEREVER YOU FIND YOURSELF, CONSIDER IT A BLESSING

Today, I will like to tell you a story and I know most of us have been and are  in a similar situation.  One day, in one of our counseling sessions on CoRe E-mentoring Program, the mentor Mrs.  Liticia Baidoo said something that got me.  She said “Wherever you find yourself, consider it a blessing.”

Her background story was very motivational.  On my part, I don’t hail from a rich or middle class family but I consider it a blessing too because I believe everything was preplanned so the best I can do is to thaw according to the planned time of the Author of the Cosmos.

You know, after my Senior High education, I never wanted to go to the Teachers Training but unfortunately, I am not one whose background can afford a university education either (smiles).  Fortunately, a benevolent member of the family (I mean my aunt) opted to shoulder my education at the College of Education.  All thanks to her.

Dear friends, I thought that was not the best option but frankly speaking, it has helped me instead.  Through that, I can say I’ve experienced great things, great opportunities that is making me be who I want to be today.  I know someone will ask “How can you consider coming from a poor background a blessing?”

It’s a great opportunity for you to strive harder to come out making it in life and cooking an enticing story that will bring more chairs to your table.  No one is born with a silver spoon in his hands but after birth we fight positively to get the silver spoon.

Most of us, we are the eyes of our families which means we have a lot of responsibilities to shoulder.  We have our parents, siblings and their children and other family members looking up to us to come and better their lives and we cannot fail ourselves nor fail them.

There are many storms in our lives the best we can do is smile over them and not to be overwhelmed by them. Recently, a friend asked a very interesting question.  He says “I did some tough work yesterday  dear . It was really spine breaking so my point is that considering this one as a storm,  how could I smiled over it?”

Here’s my answer to him; “You will smile over it because you have to pass through that to achieve a goal. If what you are chasing is a worthy cause then hardwork will not seem hardwork.” As simple as that, when you understand the worth, magnitude and volume of the cause you are fighting, you will not relent nor be overwhelmed.  The best thing is to keep a positive attitude, be self-motivated, persistent and consistent. Everywhere you find yourself is a blessing.

I will end by urging us to take volunteerism as a value and a virtue. Volunteerism is the principle of donating time and energy for the benefit of other people in the community as a social responsibility rather than for any financial reward. Sometimes we come out of our storms of life because we showed an act of kindness to someone, a neighbor or stranger which he or she in turn decides to better our lives. Volunteerism is not financially based  and it does insist on receiving a reward but rather a little effort you make to ease the pain of someone. Volunteerism is a necessity of life and wherever you find yourself, consider it a blessing and maintain a positive attitude that will help you build a better story of yourself.

Oh! (Smiles) and Don’t forget to smile. Smile is a therapy. When you smile in your adversities, you make life more beautiful. It increases your facial value. Smile at the obstacle, for it is a bridge. A smile is the best way to get away with trouble even if it’s a fake one. If you’re not using your smile, you pave way for more troubles to befall and overwhelm you. Smile at the storm and tell it you are stronger than it can think.
